In an attempt to create something identifiable, but at the same time not, i created the patterns. The first one to come around was ‘In Church’. I was inspired by the colors I saw at the St Peter’s Italian Church in London. It was the Sunday mass, on a big holiday. I then tried the ‘Arabesque’ patterns that I could remember from the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. I’ve been a really long time ago. I was probably 12 years old. I wanted to use different colors than what you would expect from the Blue Mosque. Moving on and as I was developing my yellow theory, something was coming towards me. I couldn’t stop it. I didn’t do all nighters since university, and here I was, painting ‘The touch’. And it all followed from there.
